Welcome Back lizsewnyc.

Update:

Originally I started this blog to show you what living in New York was like. Five years later I'm living in Florida, and A LOT has changed. How much has changed:

Here's a peek:

-I decided to move back to Texas cause I was homesick, I had accomplished what I set out to do, and I wasn't finding a full time design job.
-I had several different jobs trying to make ends meet.
-I started a pillow business, but quit.
-Put a halt on all things fashion, because I needed a restart.
-Most exciting part, fell madly in love and got married.
-Moved across country, something I said I would never do again.
-I was 27 in 2012 and now I'm 32.

For the past 5 years, I have also been trying to figure out what it is creatively that I like to do... and I'm still trying to figure it out. What I can tell you:

I love...
-Fashion
-Structure
-Drawing
-Design
-Interior design
-Art
-History
-Movies

*LOL I don't think any of that has changed.

In the midst of rediscovering myself I've also been focusing on paying off debt. If I can pay off my debt, then I can refocus on my creative side... this is also another reason for keeping a low key profile.

*Epiphany*

So today is my day off and I'm doing what I normally do on my day off. Drink coffee, and watch a classic- this being either a movie or tv show. Now I love classic movies because I love the clothes they wear. Women looked elegant, and men looked dapper. When I watch a movie, I really watch the clothes

When I look at the clothes I think:

"How can that be worn today?"
"How can that be redesigned?"
"Can that trend?"
"Men's clothes have not changed."
"Who was the costume designer?"
etc...

So I'm watching Funny Face, looking up Givenchy, and it hit's me...

FASHION FRIDAYS

I love watching classic movies, I love fashion, and I love history. So for now here is my creative outlet, I hope you enjoy.

This ain't Texas...

Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. Zoo York is an understatement. Zoo's are organized and separated. This place is more like Chaotic New York, but then again that doesn't flow as nicely and there for not nearly as many tshirts would be sold... if any. Where I live: Yonkers, NY. Today I got to do something I've always wanted to do... go jogging in the city. I really do love the city, and if I ever come back to Texas it'll be for these reasons: 1. I want space 2. Tired of paying for so much 3. Sick of seeing trash everywhere I look... this really is a dirty city. But seriously, it's so gorgeous up here it'll take a miracle to get me bk in Tx. Now for pictures... There is green everywhere. My apt is on the left. This is what I thought to myself today... Ever wonder why the bad guy (in movies) doesn't realize he's being watched or followed? I think I know why, there's cars lined up the street everywhere. N...

Do cats really land on their feet?...

So this blog is a little off the beaten path from what I usually talk about, but I didn't sleep at all last night cause of it... and I would like some input. First though, just a little recap of my latest adventure... sorry no pics today :( Like I've told you before I live in Yonkers. Where this town ends and begin, I have no clue??? Everything just merges together. You could send me to a certain part of this town, and I'll assume I'm still in Yonkers. Of course we all know this'll change with the more I become familiar with it. Anyhow, my roommate was sweet enough to show me a few things about the area, but first you need to understand that she is a fitness instructor.... she teaches Yoga, Zumba, Cycling, etc... the woman's in shape. So yesterday we made it a point to go cycling at 9. The plan was to leave here, cycle together to her gig, and while doing so she would point out some things about the city... like where to go, whats good, whats where, etc. R...

inSIGHTful....

I have officially been here one month. HOW?! This time last month my family and I were unloading the truck.  Ok, so this is a majority of everything i've been doing this past month. First I apologize for the few blogs I've posted. I literally have no time. This is me Monday through Friday for me: Get up at 6a Leave at 8a *walk half a mile to the bus* Bus ride 10 min Subway 40 min The subway I take every morning. The 1 train Arrive at KU by 9:30a - I usually have a 15 min window to grab a Starbucks :) Leave KU around 7p  Get home between 8:30-9:30p... it just depends on what I need to do afterwards.  ON TOP OF THAT I'm still looking for a job and trying to assist with things bk in Texas. Nice thing about taking the subway is that it has taught me to be on time. I haven't been late once! That itself is a miracle. I get off the subway right at 42nd and 7th which is Times Square. (I'll update with pics later) So in regards to w...
